A group of seventeenth-century buildings including the public college preparatory high school and buildings of the Roman Catholic Church that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Córdoba’s economy was boosted in 1866 when the San Roque dam was built, one of South America’s first dams. The city’s nickname is La Docta (the learning one) after Cordoba’s high education institutes being the oldest in the country.
